2009 PGA Tour Qualifying School Comes To A Close

The final round of PGA Tour Q-School finished in the fashion as it always does. A number of players within one or two strokes of securing their playing privileges on the PGA Tour for the 200 season. Problem: only 25 players including ties were going to have that life long dream come true.

As Wil Collins (Wil spelt with only one L) stepped up to his last hole of the day he was on the number, -19. Wil, not knowing what the number was, hit a drive off the tee in to the left rough and left himself no chance of getting to the green in two. His last hole of the day was a par 4. Wil's fiance new what the number was, and she was probably more nervous than he was at this very moment. Wil ended up making what would prove to be the best decision of his golfing career. Collins hit a sand-wedge and laid up for his second shot, then proceeded to hit a sand wedge, from one hundred yards, to within 20 feet of the hole. Collins had to make an up-hill twenty footer on the final hole to secure his card. His caddie holding his breath, his fiance with her head in her hands and the silence across the land made for an epic finish to great Qualifying tournament for Collins. He rolled the ball at perfect speed up towards the hole and watched a single put change his life forever as it finished in the bottom of the cup. This was just one of the great moments of the final round at the final stage, there were however, some not so gratifying stories and stories that actually make you hurt just watching them unfold.

Congratulations to all the players who attained the priveledge of playing the 2009 PGA Tour this week at Final Stage. Only 28 players survived the grueling six round, in six days, here are a few names thaat were successful this week:
